Im am struggling to do this simple thing, new to photoshop.

I want to take a picture and fade the edges into nothingness. Much like a gradient but the picture fades out based upon my selection, how can this be achieved??

Add a Layer Mask (look in the Layers menu), and put a gradient in the mask.

Thanks. Added mask, I am able to put a gradient on the original image but not on the mask, I have slecetd it from the layers menu?
