CS3 & Windows Update

My employer installed a Windows update this morning and now, Photoshop won’t load. It gets hung on "Reading preferences…". Yesterday, before the update, everything was working fine, no problems. Does anyone know anything about this or have any ideas?

Sounds like the preferences has been corrupted. Try loading photoshop with Alt, Ctrl, and Shift depressed. This will reset your preferences, and you have to set them again.

If that update was KB927891, it did nothing to Photoshop on my system.
