I’m noticing some odd behavior while using either USM or Smart Sharpening.
Basically, as I’m adjusting the sharpening settings (Amount and Radius)in the dialogue box, I use the Preview option to view the changes in my main window. This is because I typically find the actual sharpening preview box to be too small.
As I do this, the main picture window is usually zoomed to about 25% so I can get a broad overview of the sharpening changes taking place. Once I’m happy with my settings I’ll hit "OK". The problem is that the sharpening that’s applied looks nothing like it did during preview mode. The sharpening is much more subdued, almost to the point where it’s hard to even notice a difference.
If I zoom in to 100% I will see more of the sharpening effect, but not at the zoom level I was basing my adjustments on. For example, given a set of sharpening adjustments, 25% zoom level in the sharpening preview looks nothing like 25% zoom level after the sharpening is applied.
Is there any reason for this? Am I approaching this incorrectly?
Thanks for any help.
