Photoshop Elements 3 Opens when I just want to view a picture in "My Pictures" folder

I have recently acquired Photoshop Elements 3 and am using it now to clean up old family pictures for my personal genealogy work. Ever since I installed it (5-11-07), when I want to view photos in my picture folders, Photoshop Elements opens, wasting my time when all I want to do is view a picture before I post it on my Ancestry.com site, or add it to my personal tree on my computer.

Computer: Gateway, Intel Pentium D, CPU 2.80 Ghz, .99 GB RAM Windows Version: XP updated to Internet Explorer 7,
Latest update on windows: 5-9-07

Any one have any answers?
