I used to do this stuff with psp 7 where you just deselect your background color to draw just the border of a rectangle…

anyone ? thanks.

Try this:
Use the Elliptical marquee tool. Press Shift to constrain the circle. While pressing Shift key, drag your mouse until the circle is the size you like. If you hit the Alt key while doing this, your circle will be created from the center. Go to the menu under EDIT>STROKE and set the stroke width you need…color etc. and hit OK…Wham…instant circle!!!!

Hope this helps

There also another way you can do this….Get a paintbrush the size you need. make a filled circle….use the magic wand and select your circle…..on the menu go to select>modify>contract and enter the amout of pixels to contract….hit OK and backspace or
delete….Ctrl-D to deselect and voila!!!

If you want to use the shape tool, you have 3 choices to make before drawing your rectangle. Look up in the objects bar to the right and identify the 3 little icons in a row. The leftmost one is shape layer, the middle one is shape path and the right one is shape fill pixels. Choose the middle one and draw your rectangle. Click on the paths tab in the layers palette. Choose a brush size and color you want. Click on the small triangle in the upper right part of the paths palette and choose stroke. This should give you what you want. Then, click below the Work Path to deselect it.

Double-click on the layer to get Layer Styles dialog. Set a stroke width and color and pull Fill Opacity down to zero.

You apparently are using the custom shape tool and it is applying the color automatically. The set color is in the upper right hand corner. Change the color to white and after the shape is drawn, right click on the layer in the layers palette and select rasterize layer. Then you can add the stroke from the layer styles menu either by double clicking the thumbnail image in the layers palette or clicking on the "f" icon at the bottom of the layers palette and then select stroke.

The best way is to download the Rounded Corners action from the Adobe Exchange site http://share.studio.adobe.com/axBrowseProduct.asp?p=2 and use the marquee tool to draw your shape instead of the shape tool. Then use the method that DosBoss57 described. HTH

..

I was’t using the custom shape tool, I just made that example img with psp to get it done quickly.
I did check out that action you mentioned and it is getting the job done, so thanks.

hmm, small problem all of a sudden, it worked when I tried earlier but now I get things like this: http://members.lycos.nl/festivibefotos/Untitled-1.jpg Am I overlooking something ?
