When I open a file into photoshop such as a jpeg. The levels seem to change. I view the same jpeg in Windows Picture Viewer and it looks fine. But when I open it in Photoshop it looks washed out and as if the levels had been changed. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I’ve reinstalled photoshop and that didn’t work. This is with Adobe CS2 9.0.2, WinXP professional sp2

How long since you last calibrated your monitor? Once a month should be enough, and this is what Adobe recommend, although an older CRT can drift quite quickly.

Re-run Adobe Gamma, or your third-party software/hardware calibration, to bring things back into line.
