loss of sharpness in transition from camera raw to photoshop

noticed that when i open a picture in camera raw the tree branches have smooth borders and look real. When i then open the picture on photoshop, the branches then look much more jagged instead of smooth borders. is there some way to avoid this? It doesn’t seem right to me.

Are you viewing the shot on screen at an even percent like 50 or 100?

Check your Camera Raw preferences. One of the options there is to apply sharpening only to preview images (or all images). If it’s set to just preview images, then the sharpening won’t be applied when you bring the image into PS.
