harry, although I’m kind of a rookie, it seems to me working with my R2400 and recently my new R3800 I get the best pics on the larger sizes… (17×22, 13×19 etc) when I never go below a setting of 240, I try to stay around 360 or even 420 for smaller images, but I always try to adjust the resolution to keep the "resampling" amount to a minimum.
Note: Inkjet printers prefer that the ratio between file size and native ppi be a whole number. Since the Epson runs at 1440, 420 will not provide a whole number ratio.
240, 360 etc is the way to go.
Lawrence, yes thats correct, I mistyped the "420" I meant 480, all must be a derivitive of the 1440 or 2880.
I didnt saw any differences when I select in-between resolutions like 233ppi or 321ppi.
Personally I print between 180 to 360ppi, depending the output size with Photo RPM as my default printer resolution. On Epson Premium Glossy and Innova Ultra Smooth Gloss.
Thank you for your answers
Harry
I’d say you should set your image resolution to either 360 PPI or 180 PPI and not a "range" between these numbers. Both are both divisible evenly into 1440 DPI, which I understand is the native resolution of the R2400. Of course, you should always test the results. You may get the quality your after at the lower resolution without creating larger files.
