(CONVERTING GIF/BMP TO JPG; from small size to bit large.)

need little help on improving image quality , i have attached two images original and modified. Image 100×124.jpg is original image
when i change the size by width 100 pixels the image becomes blur with very poor quality, i would be glad

if someone could suggest me the better way to maintain the quality. (specially when you zoom the image)

I am currently using – North American General Purpose Defaults (sRGB – IEC61966-2.1) As my Color settings;

is it making quality poor?
if yes please guide me with better option.
Original Big: <http://indiananimation.net/original_100x124.jpg> Modified:
<http://indiananimation.net/modified_84x100.jpg>

For this example original (GIF) image is big so it isn’t giving that bad quality but it happens specially when i modify 60×80 GIF image to JPEG 80×100 (adjusting height to 100); result is worsen and couldn’t fix this in photoshop, is there any different way or SOFTWARE? to do this.

Looks like you are taking an image with very few
pixels to make up the entire picture and enlarging
it.

There really isn’t anything you can do to improve the quality. That is the problem when starting with a low quality original. Remember the saying garbage in garbage out, that fits this situation perfectly. The only possible change you have is with one of the image enlarging packages like Blow Up from Alien Skin http://www.alienskin.com or PhotoZoom 2.2 from BenVista http://www.benvista.com. But, I wouldn’t hold my breath. All of these are designed to take a decent small image and enlarge it up to billboard size. By decent we are talking about 1 or 2MP or more. But, you can try them out. There are demos of both I believe.

With that GIF image, Go to Image’Mode…change the mode to RGB.

Then Go to Image’Image Size…

Resize with proportions constrained, entering 100 in the Height field.

Sharpen it a little, then resave as a new GIF.

its already a GIF and i have tried this thing, but problem is that its getting blurred.

all originals i am getting in either bmp or gif, and want to convert those to maximum of 100 pix. height.. with jpeg conversion… and no image blur or darken effect.

my color settings matter for the quality? what if i require any additional graphics card?

Check my Edit.

What you want to do is easy, and as you can see, the results are certainly passable, given the source image and the small amount you need to enlarge it.

It is not your settings, nor your hardware or software.

You are trying to do the impossible (read what Robert said in Post #2)!

Even a Photoshop professional would be unable to realise your concept.

You are trying to create detail where it doesn’t exist.
The best that Photoshop can do is look at the pixels on either side of the intended space and create a mixture.

That won’t create anything more than more blurred transitions than exist now.
