When i use the air brush or dodge, the highlight or darkened area leaves rings, here’s an example of what its doing, please help me

Did you create the original image before adding the highlights? I’m wondering if there wasn’t subtle banding in the gradient to begin with and the tools are just accentuating it. If there is you might try applying a guassian blur to the image before highlighting.
