Date stamp on pictures

I have a Canon Power shot 5 with date stamp. After my pics are downloaded, the date appears in gray above each photo,however, they don’t appear on photos when developed.. I added caption, but this disappears also when I close the photo, and does not appear when developed. Help!

Are you using Elements to see this gray area with the date, or some other software?
