White balance is very different – it is to allow you to apply a correction to the relative levels of the colour channels to compensate for the colour content of the light source which was illuminating the subject – you try to identify a spot on the image which was white on the original subject and sample it with the dropper – then the software works out what the characteristics of the original illumination must have been and applies a compensating adjustment. If the programmers got it right, this should not result in any overall change in brightness…
at the levels tool you can use black, grey, or white
dropers to set, but in camera raw window,. how is sopose to be used the only one droper there is?
