I have the opportunity to set things up properly first time so help me know what ‘properly’ is!

We have a small office with 3 computers and will need to access common files and folders. I want to set up a file server and am planning on setting it up with 2 HD in a RAID config for safety. The server would store all data (images). Each computer would have two relatively small HD, one for the OS/programs/Virtual memory and one for the PS scratch disk. How does this sound?

I am not familiar with the PhotoShop’s data handling. I am assuming that the opening of the file would bring the data across the LAN to the local PC where RAM/scratchdisk/temp files would be used until the file is saved. If this is the case then the setup would be ok as once-per-opening transfers of 100/200 Mb is fine. If this is not the case and rather all data including image manipulation would need to go through the LAN then this could slow things down.

Expert advice? 😉
