I have had the pleasure of spending my last 3 1/2 hours with one of the forums most talented ladies. Marilyn Lee came by for a visit this morning, we got to do a little Elements work, a little photography and time to just visit and get to know each other. I have never met anyone in person that I have met through the internet before so it made me realize that we are actually real people even though this medium sometimes minimizes that fact. We had planned to do a joint challenge entry but never got that for. I have some things to practice now that she showed me some of her techniques.

That is soooooo great. I have met a few people face to face and always have had the most positive experiences. It is good to remember that most people are what they seem and what they seem is good.

I would love to get you over here. It seems you two kick out creative, well done entries week in and week out. I got some tips on her selections technique which I think many of us admire. Now I must spend the time to get good at it.

James,

Thanks to you, your lovely wife, Joan, and your friendly Chocolate Lab, Camel, for a wonderful morning.

Out of the entire world, I can’t imagine what the odds might be for two Challenge regulars to live within an hour’s drive of each other. We managed to discuss dozens of topics from Elements and computers to gardening, seafood gumbo, baked bread, mountain lions, farming, skiing, horses, dogs, jobs, and you name it. The time just roared by. James was kind enough to check under lots of rocks for possible "wildlife" for me to try to get a photo taken for the latest Photo Challenge–unfortunately, an apt pupil I’m not, as I managed only one picture that was in focus 🙂 My sister, who also lives in the same little town that James does, was disappointed that I forgot to ask him for tips on setting up a website, so perhaps that will allow me an excuse for another visit with these very nice and interesting folks. Thanks again, James, for a fun day.

Thank you for the kind words Marilyn. Joan and I both enjoyed the visit and you are welcome to come over anytime. Maybe next time we can get that joint challenge entry done.

Good morning Joe. Basically she starts with a loose selection made with the lasso and then uses the eraser at various settings to clean it up. Also opting for hard edges rather than feathered. The smudge tool is a favorite that works wonders in her hand and it is one I seldom use. More practice.
