hello
i have a doubt,
when i work with raw images in photoshop 7,
making the best compresion for jpg, it gives me a file,
of lets say, 3.50mb, while the same image compressed
in nikon capture editor gives me a file of 7.50mb..

so, that means that capture is a better jpg quality compresor? wy photoshop cant give me a bigger file?
of course if i want capture to give a file of 3.50mb it does too.
You shouldn’t assume that when you use two different jpg compression programs the one that creates smaller images has more artifacts or the one who creates the larger file has the better image.

It actually is possible that a very good JPG saver on a PC creates smaller files than the logic embedded in a camera – but the camera’s JPG saver might need less computing power.

Check the images in detail and then decide – maybe you will then save the converted raw files as compressed TIFF or PNG (both lossless).

thanks
of course i prefer to save them in tiff,
but the reason wy i save them sometimes in jpg
is because the comertial lab were they print my photos,
they need it in jpg.
and it seems that the nikon capture can give a better jpg file than photoshop, i just wonder wy photoshop does not
give a file like capture does-
