Pop-up message says,"Updating Adobe Online components from Adobe.com" and it is frozen in that position. Can’t get rid of it. HELP!

On the Preferences menu, choose Adobe online. Set the "Check for updates" to Never. There hasn’t been any updates, and there probably never will be.

I had the same problem and, based on Jim Hess’ helpful hint, I located a file called "adobeonlineprefs" (it was in my User/../Library/Preferences folder), deleted it and then opened Elements in a snap! Thanks for the assistance. – Paul
