I am creating web galleries from sporting events (i.e., baseball, softball). I rename each picture individually giving it a unique description. The galleries always end up in alphabetical order; I would prefer to have them in chronological order. I suppose I could rename them with a number in front of the unique names. Aside from that is there an easier way to accomplish this?

No, you’ve already hit on the key – use a numbering system, and make sure you include a leading zero – 001, 002, etc. The OS wants them reorganized by either letter or number as soon as they are placed in a folder, so Elements just takes what it gets.
