I took a beautiful picture of my son with my digital camera, and foolishly resized it to 4×6 without saving the original picture. Now no matter what size I try to print, it comes out pixelated around the eyes and hands. Even printing the 4×6 size comes out pixelated. I wanted to print a 5×7 and a 4×6 for a contest. Is there any way to fix this? It’s not just the printer (I tried several), since just the image on the screen is pixelated.

I am using Windows XP. I have used Adobe Photo Elements, among other photo programs. Any suggestions sent to are appreciated.

Becky,

You will have to try one of many interpolation programs. See:

You can also try Pictura, an image interpolation software I developed. You can download it from

I’m afraid the lack of responses IS the answer.

Sure the orig. pic is gone from the camera card?
If you haven’t written over it (saved more pics), Norton unerase *might* recover it. There are also recovery services:

Here is one many folks have spoken highly of:

I don’t know if the downloadable evaluation version will actually recover, or just show you what CAN be recovered.

OK so take another pic ( I know you can’t recapture the first but maybe you’ll get a better one…probably if you don’t try 🙂 ) and when you resize it be sure that ‘resample’ is OFF in the resize dialogue box. Sounds like the image was resized in screen resolution which would be really bad for print regardless of the size.
