How do I make Metadata accessible?

I have been scanning boxes of family pictures (some over a century old) and saving them as jpegs with plans to burn them to CDs for the rest of the family. My problem is that I have been putting dates and descriptions in the Metadata, and I am concerned that the family might not have the ability to access the Metadata since I am the only one who has PhotoshopCS2. I use a Mac (10.4) while the rest of the family have PCs.

So, is this something I should be concerned about? What other programs are there that can access Photoshop’s metadata that others might have?

I really appreciate any input since I have a lot more boxes to go thru.

Joe,

You might want to post this in the Photoshop Windows forum across the hall, since you’re concerned about what PC users may be able to use.
