But I doubt an ancient version of Elements is going to work on a Mac-Intel machine.

I assume you would want to get the latest, current version. Even that might be iffy on a Mac-Intel. Ask in the Elements forum. I cannot suggest any version of Elements to anyone for any purpose whatsoever, because I don’t use Elements.
