Setting black point on TFT

I have been told that Adobe Gamma is not meant for tft screens and do not have a spider calibration system. Can anyone advise how to set a black point?

Because of their backlight technology there _is_ no "black" on TFTs. The best one can get is dark gray. Adobe Gamma is still useful in this regard, or find a contrast calibration chart and use that to set your black point. There’s one within Nokia’s monitor test utility:
