I recently began running my laptop (Win XP) with an external monitor, extending my desktop onto the second monitor. For some reason I cannot seem to use the "print screen" button to copy the screen image for pasting into a Photoshop file. This is something I used to do a fair bit without problems.

Is there a solution to this?

When I hit the "print screen" button, then open up a new file in photoshop for pasting into, the new photo is 32×32 pixels and the "paste" command under the "File" menu is grayed out.

Thanks.

Does it work with Alt-PrtScrn, to get the active window?

Might want to look at a screen snap utility program such as SnagIt…
