Photoshop 6 begins to open then dissapears

when I click on the photo shop6 icon, the probram begins to open but then closes. Image ready opens ok anf works fine. I tried restoring to previous registry when it was fine, but same thing happens. I reinstalled 3 times and still have same problem. The last time it worked properly it froze "lack of memory" and I needed to restart pc. Now there is no error message. It just refuses to open all the way.What to do please help. I need the program to open.

Hum, a bit more info would be useful…

What’s you’re machine configuration? What OS? etc

win xp pro
Dedll Inspiron 9200
Photoshop worked fine for years.
The only problem was on occasion it would freze when opening and I would need to close and open again

Delete your preference file as per the Forum FAQs. That file is NOT replaced by an uninstall/re-install

Thank you much. Holding Ctrl/Alt/Shift while opening ps6 asked for the settings and did the job.
