I’ve got a couple of users running the latest version of Photoshop (fully upgraded, as part of CS2). It’s running on a 2 year old HP and a year old Dell, both high spec and running a fully updated XP. These are PC’s which were introducted to attempt to fix the problem which was occuring on two previous machines.
We’ve had recurrent problems with program errors in Photohop. No other CS2 apps are effected. Errors occur at any time, even when minimizing CS2, although usually when working on a file (can be any type, any size). The errors cause photoshop to freeze so the only way to exit is to stop the process running in task manager. I’m getting both the standard application errors (could not complete your request because of a program error) and also various Visual C++ runtime errors.
Anybody have the faintest idea what could be causing this? Additional info:
Gfx: Nvidia 7800 GTX (latest drivers)
Already tried: removing preferences, logging onto new user account (same problems), re-installing, re-installing from local disk in VGA mode, re-installing from new disk (sent from Adobe due to problems) & disabling all non-essential programs from starting up (via msconfig).
The problem has affected these machines when running in two different environments (recently been migrated to a new domain). I can deduce that the problem must be a software conflict, rather than hardware as it has recurred on 4 different machines with completely different specs. I guess I am probably going to have to format disks and reinstall XP etc. to eradicate the possibility that there is a conflict between PSCS2 and some old software which was installed on the PC’s when located in their previous environment. Any other idea’s before I reach this point would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any help.
