open/import part of a large image

Hello

Is it possible to open part of a large image. Total Integration used to have a plug-in that allwed you to open a secton of a large image and then save that portion back into the original file.

The files in question are over 2 GB and it would be extremely helpful to find a method of opening a section of the file to work rather than the entire +2 GB file.

All that is neeeded for this project is a method of opening a section of a large file. The section will be saved as a new file.

No, and the old plugins only worked in VERY limited situations (ie: rarely).
