I’ve just purchased a new computer with a dual core AMD processor and 2GB of memory together with two hard drives, one for the operating system and one for a scratch drive, etc., etc…. just like the recommendation from most posters in this newsgroup. However, I need someone put me onto a great monitor. I’ve tried to find CRT types but the trend is going toward LCD. I really need to get this right the first time are SWMBO will nail me. Please help!

Carl ,

Very subjective, monitor choice. You will get more real estate for your buck with CRT’s than LCDs (and they warm the place in winter) Check out the EIZO , range, http://www.eizo.com/index.asp both CRT and LCD. Two’s good if you can afford them, my mate has one portrait and one landscape for working on the different image formats with the second monitor displaying the tools and palettes.

CRTs are still cheaper than LCDs for any given size, generally support more resolutions, and are the only way to go if you do any video editing.

On the other hand, they require a LOT of room…
