Help creating a logo

I’m trying to make the letter W look like wave curls, however I have no idea where to start. I tried playing with the pen tool but I cant seem to do anything useful with it. If anyone can point me in the right direction or any type of help would be greatly appreciated. An example of what I’m trying to do is in the image provided.
