I installed Photoshop CS 2 on a windows xp pro laptop. I than discovered that I had no help files that were installed. So I removed the Photoshop and cleaned the registry and the computer of any mention of Photoshop or Adobe Bridge and reinstalled and I still had no help files. Does anyone know of a way I can get this corrected and have help files for Photoshop CS 2 and Adobe Bridge?
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088 This link will provide you with the latest CS2/bridge help files, but I failed to tell you how to install it. First, install the updated version of Adobe Help, version 4.03. This new Help platform seems to work well for other Adobe products. Once installed, copy the compressed help package to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help
Center\AdobeHelpData\Packages Do not uncompress as Help 4.03 does this on the fly.
Ok I download the help package and put the zip file in the packages folder. Now when I run the auh.exe file I get this error: Package Processing Error, ^0; Subsystem returned this error.
First of all make sure you have the latest version of the Help Centre:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1 07&platform=Windows The updated Help package is available from:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088 If you still have problems:
There are two techdocs concerning Help Centre Problems:
332006 Error "Model subsystem error: 1016" when you start Help Center from any CS2 application
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332006.html 331717 Help window doesn’t appear when you start Adobe Help Center (Windows XP, 2000)
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331717.html Neither of which address this specifc problem, but could be worth your while to read through.
Also, it may be worth trying the following:
Assuming ahc.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center, delete the following folders
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Cache C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Database C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Preferences C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Search
The only folder under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help
Center\AdobeHelpData you should have left is one called packages. Run ahc.exe
What should happen is that your help center database should get rebuilt (you will see progress messages as it process each help package) and everything should work.
