I’m trying to figure out how to (auto-)SELECT the object(=bitmap) I just pasted into a Photoshop document.
Some programs (e.g., the $39.95 LViewPro) realize that this is a reasonable thing to do, and do it by default (i.e., as soon as you paste something into an image, the pasted part is automatically selected; you can deselect it by clicking anywhere else on the image).
In Photoshop, I can’t figure out how to do it at all. (Well, short of
[remembering to] first create a new layer via cut; magic-wanding the
background of the new layer; inverting the selection; and copying the result back to the original layer. Seems like going "a long way to get your elbow" for something that intuitively should be done by default in the first place!!)
This may be a very basic question, but I can’t figure it out. Thanks in advance for any help.
