how to make a "crossover"

Hello,
I want make a crossover between two pictures.
By example
two photo’s overlapping with 100 pixels
the transparancy of that100 pixels of the left photo must go from 0 to 100% the transparancy of that100 pixels of the right photo must go from 100 to 0. How can i do that in Photoshop 7??
