Why can’t I render clounds on a layer thats been filled with either the fore or background color? When I has PS 7 all I had to do was Filter>Render>Clouds and BAM! there they were. Now I can’t even select the Render sub menu from the filters menu, in fact, I can’t select more than half of them. But in ImageReady everything is available. What gives?

Go to "Image-Mode-8 bits per channel". You’re working in 16 bit mode. If you don’t know what it is, then you probably don’t need it.

Are you sure you’re trying this on an 8-bit file?
