changing size on an item in picture

I am trying to change the size of a subject in a photo without changing size of entire photo.
For example: man with dog, to change size of dog only.

I have CS2 and win xp.

Could someone walk me through the procedure to do this

select object, EDIT menu FREE TRANSFORM or TRANSFORM and select the distorsion you require.
