Just installed Photoshop CS. Now when I open photos there is a red, neon color over most of the image.

The image appears fine in preview, but when you open it – it has the cast.

I believe this happened to me when I upgraded to Photoshop 7 some time ago, but I cannot remember the fix.

I have recalibrated my monitor, and tried different setting in preferences.

Any suggestions?

Reggie,

…and tried different settings in color preferences.

That’s where the problem lies: in your color settings.

I already replied to your other post:

That sounds very much like a conversion issue. Make sure you are set to Adobe Engine and not applying double color management (set printer driver to No Color adjustment).

Follow the instructions in this link to the letter, step by step:

the trick seems to be highlighting a new fresh OEM (or sRGB) profile before clicking on the calibrator

Man this and the color management forum are becoming saturated with SOLUTIONS FIXES FOR bad monitor color, photoshop color off wild saturated wrong light dark neon inaccurate why how to it’s not my monitor profile already done that…

Thanks Ballard! Thanks to you and Ramón for the links.

As it turns out, I just installed Panther, before installing Photoshop CS . . and guess what kind of monitor I have?

Yep – Hitachi CM715!

After reading the link under "Simple test to rule out whacked monitor profile." I found my blasted monitor listed as being a problem with Panther. Selected the AppleRGB profile, rebooted, and BINGO! Problem solved!

Thanks again – both of you for your help!
