Workaround for missing "Save as Copy"?

This doesn’t come up very often, but when it does it’s really annoying. Since version 7 there is no longer a "Save as Copy" option. Which means that if I want to save a copy of the file with a new name in its current state, then continue to work on the original file under the original name, I now seem to have to "Save as," give it a new name, wait for a minute or two as it saves, then take another minute or two to resave to restore the original name. It was a lot faster (and safer) just to save a copy and keep on working. Is there a sensible workaround to this limitation?

Try using: Image menu/Duplicate.

You can use it as often as you want while working on a file and can either save the duplicates to disk, or not, as you like.

I have this command set as a keyboard shortcut: Control F13.

Thanks. I never noticed that option. That solves the problem.
