Can anyone suggest cheap or free software or templates for collages. It’s a hobby not a profession, I can’t afford another $600.00. thanks for your help!

Have you tried "googling" for them?
here’s one at http://www.photoshopuser.com/how/
Ther’s also a quicktime Photoshop tutorial at the following site (requires free registration)
http://www.photoworkshop.com/registered/pages/index.html As for collages do a search for tutorials on blending images/using layer masks.

I’m familiar with the techniques, I guess I’m trying to say when I design them they look like crap.

B,

How cheap is cheap? 😉

A number of the sites I found looking for templates do actually sell the sort of thing you are looking for, just view, pay and download (I think) see http://www.entheosweb.com/photoshop_templates/wedding.asp for contact details .

I’ve considered this one, does anyone have it? I’ve also looked at Pixel Creator Pro. It’s the predesigned collage templates I’m interested in. I can use clipping masks and blend modes, etc. My collage design just doesn’t look that great. tx

I’m afraid that good design can’t be taught in newsgroups. It probably can’t be taught on the Internet. Based on what is generally seen out there, it may not be able to be taught at all.

Of course, part of the problem is that no one knows what you mean by "look that great". That is very subjective. Then again, you could find a collage that you think looks great and copy it. That is no guarantee that it will look great with your work, but it’s about as easy as you’ll get without actually learning to be a great designer.
