When I "save for web" in CS2, Photoshop removes my EXIF data on that jpeg file. Is there a setting in CS2 to stop this?

Thanks for any help!
Tony

Save for web is supposed to strip EXIF data.

Use ‘File>Save As’ instead.

Hi Jim, When I do a "save as" jpeg is not an option, my choices from the drop down menu are: PSD, Cineon, PSB, PDF, RAW, PING and TIFF…no JPEG.

Thanks for any help, Tony

You probably have layers. JPEG becomes available if you flatten. Save for Web would have done it anyway!

Edit: Or your file is 16 bit.

Tony,

As already stated, save for web will strip EXIF data.

To “save as” JPG the image must be 8-bit, no layers, no extra alpha channels, no paths, etc. Then it will save “most” of the EXIF and IPTC data in the JPG file.

In other words, there are numerous image “features” that can conflict with JPG. These must be removed.

Cheers, Rags 🙂

Thanks everyone! My RAW (NEF) photos were 16 bit images! I converted them to 8 bit and my "save as" now shows the JPEG option.

Thanks again!
