Sorry for this easy question but my brain is hurting.

I want to draw a simple line with the free form pen tool without it closing the path and creating a shape. Just a line. Say I have an oval shape and I want to divide it with an irregular line (like a cracking egg or something). I draw the oval with the shape tool, i grab the free form pen tool and start clicking my way across the oval shape. Now I want to end without closing the cracking line into a shape. I have tried ctrl click (win) but that is not working for me.

I appreciate your help.

Look at the options in the option bar, and select the path one…

Thanks for the response Pierre. So I make a path then select it then stroke it. OK I think that is making sense to me… Now I see i must use the alt button, not ctrl to end an open magentic pen tool line. Great. I am very appreciative.

Thanks again,
