I just installed Elements 2 and when i open my photos they all have a yellow cast. They look fine in PS 6. Any help is appreciated.

What colour management settings are you using? Have you tried both?

Are these images that are coming from a digital camera? Some people have to download a free "Ignore EXIF" utility from Adobe to get rid of a color cast in their digital images. Give us some information about the source of the image files (camera specs? scanner?) PSE 2 and PS 6 run on different engines, so different outcomes between the two pieces of software wouldn’t be unheard of.

You might try the remove EXIF. It is a download available from Adobe. If that doesn’t help maybe someone more knowledgeable will come along.

I’m using the Rebel and do not get that same colour cast. I am getting matched images in Elements, Photoshop 7, PSP 8 and C1 software.

As PS6 does not recognise the EXIF colour space tag while PE2 does, Ignore EXIF is probably the most likely guess for a fix. The next step would be to check the monitor callibration – but as PS6 is more or less colour managed (as I understand it – although not as well developed as the later versions of PS) I would expect that a monitor calibration problem would show in both PS6 and PE2.

I installed the ignore utility and it didn’t work until i set the color settings to use no color management. Thanks all for your help, everything seems fine now.

Rob – that sounds right – actually it is working in the other settings! With partial colour management the (now untagged) image will display in sRGB. With full colour management the untagged image will display in Adobe RGB. On my Canon G3 these both give the photos too red a look – especially on skin tones, Adobe RGB being worse than sRGB. Without Ignore Exif the photos are tagged as sRGB whatever choice you made on the camera (assuming you have a choice… – I don’t!)
