Black and white pictures

How can I make a picture of somebody’s face black and white? And I don’t mean like in old black and white movies or pictures because there are different shades of gray color too (black and white combination), but that there are only black and white colors, like dark side of the face black and light side white.

Use one of the selection tools and select only half of the face. Copy this selection to a new layer (Layer>New>Layer via copy). Invert the color on this new layer (Image>Adjustments>Invert or CTRL+I).

Is that what you mean?

Or, are you thinking of the theater mask sort of thing. Black/white face one side sad one side happy?

Try this:
Image>Mode> Grayscale, then
Enhance>Brightness/Contrast, and play around with the Contrast slider.
