I have a 17′ iMac and have calibrated it using the Display Calibrator that comes with the computer. I think my calibration is pretty much the iMac default but I changed the gamma to 2.2 since I was using my edited photos to make DVD slide shows and watch on TV. Now I’m trying to print on an Epson Photo 820. I’ve tried 1)Color Sync and 2)No Color Management. The no management gave more accurate color but the Grand Canyon’s reds were too red. I am getting much better results by playing with the printer settings: magenta -10, brightness +5 and saturation +5.
I’m also working my way through Lynch’s Hidden Power book and on page 103 it has one measure gray cards at 25,50 and 75%. My measured values are all within a point of his for 25 and 50 but the red channel at 75% is 55 not 43. I wonder is this all connected? I really am fairly new at this and would appreciate any comments.
