I have a logo I am trying to add to some DVD menus.
I have it scanned in at 300dpi, 100dpi and 72dpi.

WHen I go to make the image smaller keeping the restraints the image becomes distorted, or I should say not as sharp as the original.

What I mean is that the lines are not sharp, they are wavy.

I have tried everything but can’t get the image to hold up when I shrink it. I thought the image only distorted when you enlarged it.

I am building it in Photoshop 7 on a 720X540 image.
I than place that file in DVD Studio Pro 3. I have done this before countless times with other logos. However this one doesn’t want to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

Any type of resampling will have a softening effect, even down.

That’s why they came up with bicubic-sharper for PSCS.

Otherwise, you can apply a minimal amount of USM to regain the lost clarity.

Michael,

The obvious solution is to re-scan the image at the exact size and resolution you need; but you don’t say whether you have the original or only the scans.

Fewer image pixels = less image sharpness.
