If the file association in Bridge is not set to Photoshop, double-blicking, CTRL+O or Open will NOT open them in Photoshop, but in whatever application IS set in the Bridge file associations.

What application(s) are your image files associated with in Windows Explorer?
It may be easier to just do an un-install/re-install of both Bridge and CS2
