Sorry if this is the wrong newsgroup for this but I did not know where to place it. If this is the wrong group, could you redirect me to a proper one.

Anyway – I have an old monitor (a Digital PCXBV-KA) for which I do not have a colour profile file available and have been unable to find one on the web anywhere. If anyone has one, I would appreciate a copy – but I think that is rather hoping a lot.

The main question is – are there any programs or tools (maybe in Photoshop itself – I have PS7) which can be used to calibrate the monitor for accurate colour matching for display and then for accurate matching for printing.

TIA
Martin

You didn’t say which operating system you use, but on Windows an application is installed with PS7. It’s called Adobe Gamma, and it will allow basic characterization/profiling of your CRT.

Printer profiling is much more difficult, there are several software packages available with prices ranging from US$ 79.00 including two targets to > $1000.00.

No matter how much money you spend, with accurate profiles you’ll need to re-calibrate your setup frequently, and with more generic profiles less frequently.
