Now that I have the new CS installed, I’ve been unable to add text to a document that I scanned. I’ve tried switching into different modes (BMP, Grayscale, and even RGB), with no success. When I click the text tool and click on the document, a new text layer appears and the text I’m typing appears in the Layer name but not on the document. If I drag the text tool I can make a box, but nothing I type appears in the box. Am I missing something simple here? The process of adding text to an image seems to have changed…

Thanx,
Wm

Are you sure the text color is not the same as the background behind the text?

Yes, the text color is showing as black and I’m trying to "fill in" a form. It’s really confusing the helloutta me…

The resolution of your file is too small. Increase to something reasonable like 72-600 dpi.

What is the resolution of the file?

Try setting the type size in pixels, not points. When you set type size in points, the size of the text will vary with the resolution of the file. If the file is some ridiculously low resolution (like 1 pixel per inch), then 12-point type is *less than one pixel* high, and will not appear.

It was scanned as a "B&W Photograph" — that should be sufficient resolution. It’s a form that I was trying to fill in and print.

The fact that you said "B&W Photograph" has nothing to do with resolution.

You use the Image Size command to see or change the resolution of the image. What is its resolution now?
