hi,

just got a nikon D70 camera. i’m trying to get nikon’s raw images [extension is called .nef] into photoshop CS but PS is saying it doesn’t recognize that format.

haven’t loaded nikon’s CD onto my computer yet. will that do the trick? or do i have to download something to make PS work with that kind of image?

thanks.

It looks like PS CS doesn’t support the D70’s RAW files:

Yes. Nikon’s NEF plugin works for PS7. The plugin is part of Nikon Capture.

Depending on the version of PS you are using, download the Camera Raw plugin and get going. I wouldn’t use the Nikon software unless you have upgraded and bought it. Certainly CS2 is very good at handling NEF.
If that is a problem download Rawshooter, it is free and does a good job. John

If you are using CS and not CS2, you need to download the latest (version 2.4) Adobe Camera Raw from the adobe site (free download) and install it. If you are using CS2, you need to download ACR version 3.1.
