Occasionally when already connected to the internet I get a message pop up when I open Elements 2. It says that Adobe online needs to send updates but I get a second message saying that this cannot be done and I should check TCP/IP HTTP Proxy/Port settings. I go to the Internet Control Panel where there are two unticked boxes but I have no idea if the word ‘check’ means ‘tick’ or just to check the settings. One box says HTTP 1.1 and the other says HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections. I do not know what these settings are supposed to do, Should I tick them and see? Any ideas please? As you may gather I am not very computer literate and I might not understand technical answers.

Trudy,

Edit the Preferences file for Adobe Online and set it to look for updates "Never". There aren’t any.
