Eek.

Dave forbid Ann might deign to venture into the stinky ol’ Lounge to post this bit of O.T. news!

And thankfully so.
DAZ Productions will re-introduce the Mac version ( after all Bryce started on a Mac ) that Corel dropped.
I imagine it will be better and maybe even implement dual CPU support. Bryce Renders fast on a 1.5PB though.

It’s not really OT (Bryce is often used in conjunction with Photoshop images) in fact it’s much too On T for the Lounge — unless you use Bryce to create images of politics, war and general mayhem.

See, Ann, that’s just the thing. You haven’t spent enough time in the Lounge to even have a clue about the good things one might encounter there. Put on your hip boots, pinch your nose, and wade on in, Ann. You might be delightfully surprised.

As for the Politics and War crap, there are some of us who regularly try to derail that mess. And if you don’t like it, you can always click away.

Seriously, you’ve chucked the baby out with the bathwater by blithely dismissing the Lounge as nothing but a slum.

Nonetheless, that Bryce is getting a new home (ANYwhere but Corel!) IS good news.

Got to agree with Ann(as always). The lounge has deteriorated into a pack of snarling dogs with nothing much to say. The insults, name calling, contentiousness, and America-slamming are just too much. There are some people in there who are so in love they’re dating themselves exclusively. I especially dislike the inane or pointless one-liners that extend topics beyond any useful life whatsoever.

Please pass your nose clip and hip boots on to someone else, then, Loveable Lundy!

I just visited the lounge yesterday to read unbelievable junk junk junk. Can’t believe people spend so much time in there.

Perhaps you rather have the meanderings soil the Main Forums, Cindy?

If you were here when the Lounge was established you’d understand why it exists.

Perhaps. I just have gone there on several occasions, get exasperated and leave.

Having the lounge has helped keep this side of the forum cleaner and more pleasant. For that I am very grateful. That said, there are a few good people in the lounge… just sometimes hard to see them because of all the other nonsense.

Occassionally I have needed help that was too OT to post here and ventured over the Lounge. For instance I one time was researching Royalty Free Music to use with Flash animation. I posted in the Lounge and was pleased with the support I received.

I have always thought that establishing the Lounge was not the best idea and that it would pull contributers away from the main forums.

I felt, and still feel, that we were better served by having one semi-OT thread right here in the Mac forum.

… just sometimes hard to see them because of all the other stuff.

So, we should make a list.

The Goodย…The Bad and The Ugly.

The Good: ย…hmmmย…can’t think of any. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Bad: (Well, I think that this should be handled by the Almighty Dave)

The Ugly: Not to name names or anything. <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bb4c313/17>

LOL

The sad thing about that site, it reminds of both my father and brother rolled into one.

Ann,

Sorry for turning this into a lounge thread, I actually thought I was in the lounge. It has been a brain weary day. :\

The Bryce news is good, as a low end 3Der it’s my favorite rendering tool, I’ve had it since version 1 and will happily continue to update it if DAZ re opens the mac side.

I’m off to Daz to check it out.

Lundberg02,

Any news from your editor friend?

Yes.

I’m comfortable dating myself now. I used to be a little fearful of it.

But I’m OK with it now.

I was born in 1959.

There. I said it. That wasn’t so hard.

" I have always thought that establishing the Lounge was not the best idea and that it would pull contributers away from the main forums."

What, just because the Lounge exists, people will reduce their visits here or elsewhere?

Preposterous.

I love the Lounge, but I still visit here as often as I always have. I respond as frequently as I always had before the Lounge was established. That frequency is not so much dictated by my time constraints as it is by my mood and energy level.

Cripes, I’m a die-hard Maccer, yet somehow I manage to find time to visit the Photoshop-for-Windows forum every day, and answer questions where I can. I even learn some valuable information there that I might not have gotten here.

I think your contention may seem logical to you, but I’d think your logic is empirically flawed.

I’m Phosphor, and I approved this opinion.

I don’t think Phuz is a punk Todie. ๐Ÿ˜‰

He probably was in the seventies, but just like John Lydon now, they all mellow with age.

I just assumed L.T. was calling Lovable Lundy the punk.

If he meant me, well, then I’ve just collected another handcrafted Todie feather in my cap!

There doesn’t seem to be any indication that they are going to keep developing the Mac version of Bryce, fingers crossed though.

I thought I saw it in some press release

fingers crossed too.
