uploading files from compactflash card open out of order

Hey there all,
In the ‘good old days’ I would open the photos I had taken by using photoshop and they would open in numeric order (ascending or descending is not important)…but now the photos open in a very random order which makes my job/life much more confusing. Can anyone give me a quick fix?? I am avoiding iPhoto as it adds yet another step to this process. Merci,

Never open image files from the flash/memory card copy them to your hard drive first.

As already said: copy them first.

But Photoshop doesn’t control the order in which they’re opened – the OS hands them to the application in a certain order, and we have to open them in that order.
