When creating head shots of people for a newsletter story (These are quite small i.e. 1X1") which will be printed on a photocopy machine I have tried the half tone filter, but it contains grey dots. The Photocopy filter is too crude. I also tried several "Flaming Pear India ink" filters but they also create grey which is not properly reproduced by the Photo copier. Question: Is there a filter or process that will produce a true Black and White halftone which the copier can handle?

Bob,

Convert to Bitmap using the Pattern Dither Option – it will look atrocious on-screen, but will print and repro nicely.

Yes, if you convert your image to greyscale, then to bitmap. You’ll then have a window letting you choose what kind of halftoning you want.
But you’ll strictly have black and white.
I suggest using the half tone filter, then run levels adjustments to darken your greyscale…
