Scanner problems after upgrade

I have upgraded my pc from CS to CS2. I have a canon D660U scanner which worked fine with Photoshop CS. After upgrading, I lost all scanner functionality. I uninstalled & reinstalled all scanner software, with negative results. I then uninstalled Photoshop CS2 and my scanner started working fine again.

Any ideas on compatibility issues? (I have sent this message to Canon as well)
